About
I am a professor of Global Cultural Studies. My writing and research take a transhistorical and transatlantic approach to literature, migration, visual culture, and cultural identity. I am especially interested in fantastic and speculative literature, technology and culture, and posthumanism. Much of this work considers how borders, memory, and embodiment affect our sense of belonging.My forthcoming book, Migration Across Time and Space in Yuri Herrera’s Signs Preceding the End of the World, places Herrera’s novel in conversation with Mexican cultural history, Mexica cosmology, medieval narratives of passage, and contemporary systems of surveillance and documentation.Beyond academic publishing, I am expanding my work to include writing for broader audiences and consulting on literature, culture, migration, and the humanities.
